| Description: |
ARC trooper armor is a variation of the standard Phase 1 Clonetrooper Armor. It is heavier and more durable than the basic armor kit, affording greater protection and field survivability. Early lessons learned during the initial battles of the Clone Wars went into the redevelopment of the ARC trooper armor kit and were in place in time for the attack on the clone facilities of Kamino. Latter improvements became the basis of the Phase II clone trooper armor and the clone commando Katarn armor kit.
The distinctive skirt worn by ARC troopers is the Mandalorian hunting kama, a cosmetic flourish recognizing the individual nature of the ARC trooper program and its ties to Jango Fett and his Mandalorian past. This, of course, is a dichotomy given the relations between the Republic and Mandalorians but was not an issue in the ARC's loyalty and dedication to the GAR, Republic and later Empire.
